Cowley, John Milton, and Alexander Pope -- were precocious poets.
Cowley wrote a verse romance called "Pyramus and Thisbe" at the age of
ten. Pope claimed to show poetic aptitude from his earliest years: he
"lisped in numbers, for the numbers came."
