Mediterranean Sea
The Mediterranean Sea covers nearly a million square miles, and
borders on southern Europe (including Spain, France, and Italy), western Asia, and northern
Africa, and is connected to the Atlantic (through the Strait of
Gibraltar), the Black Sea (through the Dardanelles and the strait
of the Bosporus), and (since 1869) the Red Sea (through the Suez
Canal).
