The Baltic Sea (Danish Østersøen, German Ostsee,
Swedish Östersjön, Polish Morze Baltyckie,
Russian Baltiyskoye More, and Finnish Itämeri) is the
world's largest body of brackish water, at nearly 150,000 square
miles, between Russia and the
Scandinavian Peninsula. St.
Petersburg lies at its head.
