Arveiron River

The Arveiron is a glacial tributary near Mont Blanc. Its source is at Montanvert, above and slightly to the west of Chamounix, whence it descends to join the Arve as it flows through the valley.

The Shelleys visited the Arveiron on their excursion to Mont Blanc; the visit is described in the account headed July 24 in Letter 4 of A History of a Six Weeks Tour. Samuel Taylor Coleridge also describes the Arveiron in his "Hymn before Sun-Rise, in the Vale of Chamouni."
