Sculpture of Balmat and Saussure

Mont Blanc was first scaled in 1786 by Jacques Balmat and Michel Gabriel Paccard, and soon after by Horace Bénédict de Saussure. Although the expeditions were separate, Balmat and Saussure are celebrated together in this commemorative sculpture in Chamounix.
